The Scouts meet every Monday from 7.45pm to 9.15pm at our HQ on Earlswood Road. The age range for Scouts is 10½ to 14 years and new members are always welcome.

What do Scouts do?

Our Scout Group participate in a balanced programme which combines learning basic Scouting skills such as fire-lighting, orienteering, first aid, and bivouacking; with embarking on exciting adventures. They also:

  • Seek out the answers to questions.
  • Stand up for what they believe in and make a difference on their doorstops, confident in the knowledge that their daily actions add up.
  • Build bridges and break barriers.
  • Say yes more often than they say no – whether they’re taking part in their first-ever abseil, or writing their first line of code, or accepting the last of the toasted marshmallows.

Sound like fun? That’s because it is. Earlswood 2nd Reigate use OSM (Online Scout Manager) portal to manage all the activities, badges and the parent rota for the group. link

Scout Promise

Every Scout is unique, but they find common ground in their shared Scout values and make a promise to stick by them.

Making a promise when you join the Troop is a way of celebrating these values. Every time a new Scout decides to join, they make their promise. The process usually takes place once you’ve had a few weeks to settle in, and is known as being ‘invested’ into Scouts. Usually, the promise ceremony happens in a place you’ve chosen, or in a memorable place that means a lot to the group. Promise options can be found here.

It could be held in your usual meeting place, or it could happen around the campfire, or it could happen on a boat sailing the seven seas. Regardless, it’s a big celebration for all involved.

Scout Uniform

Scouts wear green shirts with our light blue and dark blue Group scarf (sometimes called a necker).

Before you are invested, you’ll be expected to purchase your own Scout shirt. The Scout Shop is located in our HQ and we have second-hand uniform available to purchase too. Light blue Group t-shirts are also available to purchase for £5 each, this is an optional purchase, but encouraged for camps.

You’ll wear your uniform to most meetings, church parade and travelling to camps. For help with positioning of badges, please refer to our Scout Uniform Guide.

How to Join

Lots of young people are itching to join Scouts, so the section has an active waiting list. If you would like to put your child’s name down on the waiting list please click here. Our subs (the amount you pay for your child to be in our Scout Group) are £25 per child, per term.

If you have any questions about accessibility, it’s best to pop us an email in addition to your application. If you would like to chat to a Scout Leader, please contact us.

HM King Charles III has been confirmed as our new Patron, a great honour for UK Scouts.

The King continues a long tradition of the monarch giving their Patronage, dating back to 1912. This was when Scouts was granted its Royal Charter and HM George V became our first Patron.
