Through the “Wardrobe” to Group Scout Camp: May 2022

We had a fantastic weekend at this years Narnia themed Group Scout Camp. The Cubs & Scouts camped all weekend with the Beavers joining us for a day of fun and adventures on the Saturday – which also happened to be the “hottest day of the year so far”!
The Beavers enjoyed some Narnia themed crafts including making masks and creating their own bows and arrows like Susan, by whittling sticks and combining with string. The Tomahawk throwing, inspired by the Minotaur’s axes in Narnia, was a big ‘hit’ with the Cubs & Scouts. It was challenging and took a fair few throws to master the technique. They also enjoyed watching a Remote Control Car competition that was taking part in the woods whilst we were there.

Find “Rumblebuffin” was a hilarious game of hide & seek, with 6ft 6 inch Scott as the giant Rumblebuffin hiding up a tree. It took ages for anyone to find him!

For the Saturday night campfire we invited parents to attend and the leaders each dressed up as a different Narnia character – see photos to try and work out who’s who! The Scouts cooked for everyone by competing in a “Chilli Cook-Off” with the spicy vegan option bringing home the win. Rumblebuffin and King Edmund led us in some fantastic classic campfire songs and all the young people performed for the parents through songs, dances and sketches. The Scouts, especially excelled themselves by learning some hilarious campfire sketches and performing them superbly. Beaver Jackson said that watching the Scouts and singing the songs was his favourite part of camp.
